Chief Financial Officer

Job Summary

The CFO is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the firm, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.    

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees the preparation and approval of all financial reporting materials and metrics for the Partner teams; prepares and communicates monthly and annual financial and operational metrics
  • Oversees treasury functions including proper maintenance of liquidity position, investment of temporary excess working capital giving consideration to risk and liquidity, oversight of capital structure determining best mix of debt and equity
  • Builds meaningful relationships with Partners and business unit leaders as a strategic partner/consultant to improve revenues, increase efficiencies and control costs
  • Financial consultant to Partner teams for benchmarking, practice management, team compensation structures and related matters
  •  Coordinates overall firm budget process; consistently reviews costs of doing business and adjusts as appropriate
  • Proactively identifies areas for improvement, and offers solutions, in the finance function, firm business, and Partner teams
  • Oversees the regulatory accounting/controllership functions
  • Leads all merger and acquisition projects including financial analyses, negotiation, and integration of new Advisor teams
  • Provides strategic and analytical support to Business Development, insuring that all new ventures have been thoroughly modeled
  • Coaches, mentors and guides the financial staff to increase productivity and control costs
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Operates with a wide degree of creativity and latitude
  • Fosters an environment of open, honest, and timely communication

Qualifications

  • B.S. Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • Fifteen years or more related experience
  • Extensive experience in forecasting and modeling
  • Business acumen; consistently exercises sound judgment
  • Strategic/Forward thinker; thinks in terms of advancement, development, and future direction of the firm
  • Technologically advanced to ensure real time view of financial data, and expertise with processes that leverage technology
  • Flexible; ability to multi-task and deal with interruptions and changing priorities; comfortable moving back and forth between detailed tasks and broad strategy decisions
  • Collaborative; works well with others; places success of organization over personal needs
  • Ability to assimilate information from multiple sources and develop sound business alternatives
  • Good insight with the ability to envision what the firm should do now to bring about a more profitable, successful future
  • Drives for excellence
